Research Proposal

Crime is a severe phenomenon that frequently causes havoc in society. The presence of reactions to events that often result in criminal offenses stems from the concept of awfulness. Several laws have been enacted to ensure that criminality is appropriately managed. Nonetheless, these regulations were insufficient to produce a society free of criminal activity. As a matter of fact, it is thought that as time passes, people will become more accustomed to the criminal culture, and that it will eventually become a societal norm that will be simply accepted.

A worrisome reality is that, given the vast number of people released from jail, 40% of those freed will be re-incarcerated before 3 years. The cycle of incarceration of past offenders costs the United States' numerous authorities a lot of money. State governments must spend an additional $52 billion per year on correctional buildings and systems. It is a shocking number, but studies show that it has increased fourfold in the last 2 decades as the law enforcement has resulted in more intrusive police practices, criminalizing more behaviors, and incarcerating more people.

Every year, the number of lawbreakers appears to rise. The aim of this research paper is to define what recidivism is. Additionally, it will explore methods to reduce recidivism. It includes rehabilitation programs and therapies along with its efficiency. This paper will also explore the main causes of this phenomenon and how to reduce those causes.
